ACB unearths illegal assets of Rs 39L from tribal department engineer


Visakhapatnam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) discovered more illegal assets in Visakhapatnam on Sunday from the executive engineer of the Tribal Welfare Department Katreddi Venkata Satya Nagesh Kumar in Visakhapatnam.

The 55-year-old engineer was arrested on Saturday for accumulating disproportionate assets.

ACB said that cash of three lakh Rs, fixed deposits worth 11 lakh Rs, shares in various companies worth 1.5 lakh Rs, gold ornaments worth 22 Rs lakh and silver ornaments worth Rs 31,000 were detected in the bank account in the town of Vizag. In total, they seized more than Rs 39 lakh of illegal assets on Sunday.

Kumar and his family members were in possession of two apartments, nine house sites, 6.5 acres of farmland, two four-wheeled vehicles, gold and silver ornaments, household items, money, fixed deposits and a few others worth over 2.45 crore. .

Preliminary investigation found that Kumar’s assets are 148% above his known source of income. Kumar is from Anakapalle in Vizag district and entered the civil service in March 1985 as a technical works inspector at the Tribal Welfare Department. He worked in the districts of Vizianagaram and Srikakulam and rose to the post of executive engineer in 2017.
