The Evanston Fire Department will conduct drills on a simulated high-rise fire from approximately 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 14.
This multi-agency exercise will involve the local and Evanston fire departments at Chase Bank Tower, 1603 Orrington Ave.
These exercises will build the skills needed to quickly perform fire suppression in a multi-story structure. These types of training opportunities give Evanston and neighboring departments the ability to pool their staff and resources to accomplish their mission faster and more efficiently.
High-rise operations are highly technical and labor intensive, requiring multi-agency collaboration to be successful. Area residents may notice a high level of fire and vehicle service activity in the Davis Street and Orrington Avenue area during this training event.
