The Huron Region Technical Center recently announced the Student of the Month recipient for October 2021. Students are selected based on a variety of criteria including: success in vocational technical education, exceptional attendance, enrollment status, extracurricular activities related to the CTE, on the – professional training placements, work experience and future education and / or employment plans related to the CTE program.

Taylor Schelke is the HATC Student of the Month for October. She is in her final year at Harbor Beach High School and is a student in the HATC Cosmetology program. Taylor is a member of the National Honor Society, vice president of the Student Council, and plays on the Harbor beach volleyball team.


Taylor is a very detailed person who pays attention to all areas of study and makes sure his records and times are accurate. After learning the content and how to apply it, she takes the initiative to ask herself what would happen in different scenarios to achieve a full understanding of the content. Taylor challenges herself and the others around her. She is well versed in both the theory and the practical scope of cosmetology. In the living room, Taylor is a liaison with anyone in need and looks after her own clients. She makes sure that every guest feels welcome and well cared for.
