Bhubaneshwar: The State Department of Energy today requested the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) not to increase the electricity tariff for retail consumers for 2022-2023.
During a hearing of Gridco’s Aggregate Revenue Requirement (ARR), the department also asked the OERC to consider excess discom revenue in the current year.
The OERC has been urged not to place any orders that affect Gridco’s commercial viability because the state’s long-term energy security and development depends on Gridco’s operational viability, the Energy Department added.
The department urged the commission to order discoms to cut overall technical and commercial (AT&C) losses more quickly so consumers benefit from lower rates.
The Commission has been asked to remove the rebate on intrastate transmission and transmission charges on renewable energy that does not benefit industries as a whole.
The electricity tariff in Odisha was last revised on April 4, 2021.
