FOURTEEN WORKFORCE STAR FORCES VOCATIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS; NURSING CARE RECEIVES A GOLDEN STAR

Riverside, CA – Riverside City College had 14 vocational and technical education programs named Workforce Stars by the Office of the Chancellor of California Community Colleges, including the nursing program which received a gold star.

The Workforce Stars program is a recognition program for career education programs in which students show significant gains in factors critical to advancing social mobility, including a substantial increase in income and achievement of a living wage.

Programs can be recognized at three levels: bronze, silver and gold. To be named a Strong Workforce Star, a program must meet one or more of the following thresholds:

  • An increase in income of 50% or more, based on a match with the state salary file, for students who have obtained a certificate or diploma and were last enrolled in 2015-16.
  • Achievement of the regional minimum living wage of 70% or more, based on a correspondence with the state wage file, for students who have obtained a certificate or diploma and were last enrolled in 2015-16.
  • According to the Career Technical Education Outcomes Survey, 90% or more are in a job similar to their field of study, for students who completed a certificate or diploma and last enrolled in 2014-15.

Below is a list of RCC programs that have achieved results worthy of recognition:
