Skowhegan Tech Center to Host Health Career Exploration Camp in August


SKOWHEGAN – Somerset Career & Technical Center is set to host Summer Scrub Club, a health career exploration camp, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, August 8-10, at the center of 61 Academy Circle. The camp is designed to introduce attendees to a wide variety of careers available in health care and is open to all students entering grades 8 through 12, according to a news release from MaineHealth.

A sampling of careers explored may include physical therapy, athletic trainer, nursing, lab technicians, dentistry, emergency medical services, and more.

Campers will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities and demonstrations such as dental simulation, sports recording, first aid and simulated accident emergency response. All campers will receive certification in CPR, first aid and stopping bleeding from the American Heart Association Heartsaver.
