Capella Space, an information services company that provides high-quality, operational Earth observation data service, today announced the signing of a Research and Development Cooperation Agreement (CRADA) with the US Army Space and Missile Defense Technical Center (SMDTC). Through this agreement, Capella Space is integrating its Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data into the U.S. Army’s Payload Development Lab, exploring this concept and other space technology concepts in simulation environments and test.

Capella’s SAR data is unique in that it collects high quality images easily, quickly and securely. Capella Space is the leading US commercial SAR constellation operator and a leader in the SAR data industry. Capella’s SAR systems image in most weather conditions, day or night, and capture historical amplitude and phase data, allowing the extraction of very valuable information, such as material properties, humidity, elevation, and small changes and movements, which are not available with optical electroimaging. Several US Department of Defense agencies have expressed interest in using Capella’s SAR images for a variety of purposes, including national security, humanitarian aid, disaster relief, infrastructure and transportation surveillance, as well as reliable monitoring for indications and warnings of potential natural and security threats.

“SMDTC is delighted with this partnership with the Capella Space team,” said Tom Webber, director of the Technical Center, US Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC). “Capella is the first US company to commercialize SAR and is uniquely positioned to provide mission critical support to tactical users and advance the critical mission of the military.

CRADA strengthens Capella Space’s collaborative relationship with US government agencies. Last year, Capella Space signed and maintained contracts with the US Navy, US Airforce, National Geospatial Agency, In-Q-Tel, Space Development Agency, and US Space Force. provide high-resolution SAR data and analysis on demand for the US government.

“Every day, the United States armed forces are tasked with maintaining the peace and saving lives in multiple areas in a state of constant change. You need timely intelligence to achieve the best possible results,” he said. said Payam Banazadeh, CEO and Founder of Capella Space. “We are proud to offer an American-made, market-leading SAR service to support the United States government from policy development to the tactical user. “
